Summer Sahra: Benefit for Critical Resistance

Join Reem's and Critical Resistance Oakland to kick off our series of Summer Sahras!

In the spirit of community building, Reem's will be hosting a series of evening sahras (gatherings) on our outdoor courtyard. Bring your family, friends, kids, and neighbors to eat and drink and meet new friends! Food and drink will be available all evening. Check out our local vendors who will be selling their goods! 10% of the evening's proceeds will go towards Critical Resistance's work in abolishing the prison industrial complex and supporting communities built without structures and ideas of imprisonment and punishment.

About Critical Resistance:
Critical Resistance seeks to build an international movement to end the Prison Industrial Complex by challenging the belief that caging and controlling people makes us safe. We believe that basic necessities such as food, shelter, and freedom are what really make our communities secure. As such, our work is part of global struggles against inequality and powerlessness. The success of the movement requires that it reflect communities most affected by the PIC. Because we seek to abolish the PIC, we cannot support any work that extends its life or scope.

Accessibility information:
Reem's is wheelchair accessible and seating is available. There are two public bathrooms in the Fruitvale plaza. Service animals are allowed in the restaurant. Reem's does not have any lower scent areas for those with chemical sensitivities, however we encourage all guests to limit their use of scented products before attending this event. There is a small children's area and 1 booster chair but no childcare will be available.
