QTViet Cafe Collective Pop-Up: Bóng Lên Queer Up

Bóng Lên is a monthly evening food and cultural gathering on the third Monday nights of the month and a 2019 fundraising series project of the QTViet Cafe Collective featuring homeland-diasporic foods and cultural activities meant to nourish, uplyft, and heal.

The QTViet Cafe Collective is a cultural healing hub dedicated to diasporic Queers and/or Trans Việt (QTViệt) liberation.

The main pillars for the QTViet Cafe Collective are:
creating a space where, as QTViets, we are able to remember, honor, and practice the relationships our ancestors have with food, land and culture,
providing an unapologetic platform for and by QTViet artists and witnessing each other brilliancy and non-binary existence,
participating in worker owner model to support socially just, ecologically sustainable economic solutions.

Thank you to all who came out to our first dinner last month in April - Spring and Sing!

We’re shifting the focus some and centering this dinner series on these central questions:
-What meaningful dishes rooted in our cultural identities do we want to share with the next generations and why?
-To our elders, what significant dishes do you want to pass on to your children and the young people of the next generations?
-To our young people, what are meaningful dishes do you want to learn about their symbolism and how to make it?

The hope is that the program of these dinners will be more casual and uplyfting, centering around the storytelling of these dishes. Join us the rest of the night for food, fun, and community.

We’re also shifting from a fixed-menu towards a menu that’s made-to-order of your choosing from 5:30-9:30P.

Please save the date for the next one on Monday, 5/20 -9P!

5:30PM Dinner service begins
9:00PM Last call for dinner service
